RED CABBAGE WITH APPLES


Ingredients

2 tart red apples, sliced
3 T margarine or butter
1 med head red cabbage, coarsely shredded
1/4 C water
1/4 C red wine vinegar
2 T sugar
1 t salt
1/4 t pepper


Procedure
***************
Cook and stir apples in margarine in Dutch oven over medium heat 5 minutes. Stir in remaining ingredients. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer until cabbage is tender, 35 to 40 minutes.
