DATE NUT COOKIES
Ingredients

1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup shortening
3 beaten eggs
1 tsp. soda
2 tbsp. water
3 cups flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. nutmeg
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 cup chopped dates
Procedure

Cream the sugar with the shortening. Add the three beaten eggs. Dissolve 1 teaspoon soda in2 tablespoons boiling water. Add to the
sugar mixture. Sift together 3 cups flour, 1/2 tsp. salt, 2 tsp. nutmeg and 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon. Add the sugar mixture. Cover 1 1/2
cup chopped dates with boiling water. Pour of the water immediately. Add the dates and 1/2 cup chopped nuts.
Temperature: 375°
Baking Time: 15 minutes.
