DANISH APPLE BARS
Ingredients

2 1/2 cup flour
1 tsp. salt
1 cup crisco
1 egg yolk
Milk
1 cup cornflakes
About 2 Ibs. apples(8 cups) pared and thinly sliced
3/4 to 1 cup sugar
1 egg white
Procedure

In a bowl add flour and salt. Cut in crisco. Beat egg yolk in measuring cup with a fork. Add enough milk to
make 2/3 cup liquid, and mix well. Stir egg mixture into flour mixture. Roll half dough on floured surface to
17 x 12 inch rectangle. Line a 10 x 15 (jelly roll) pan WlTH HALF THE PASTRY. Sprinkle with cornflakes
top with apples. Sprinkle with sugar/cinnamon combination. Roll out the other half of the dough and place
over the apples. Seal the edges of the dough. Cut slits on the top. Beat egg whites until frothy. Brush on
crust. Bake. While still warm, drizzle with powdered sugar glaze. Cut into bars.
Temperature: 375°
Baking Time: 50 minutes.
