Microwave Chocolate Fudge Candy

3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 can (2/3 cup) Carnation or Pet evaporated milk
3 cups sugar
1 jar (7 ounces) marshmallow fluff or marshmallow cream
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts
1 pkg. (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips


Combine butter, evaporated milk, and sugar in a round glass bowl (I use 1 5 qt. glass Dutch oven and place in microwave. Cook on high--stirring every 3 minutes--for 10 and 1/2 minutes. This should be the soft ball stage 236 degrees on candy thermometer should you decide to cook it in a stainless steel pot on the stove or use a probe or use it to test the microwave cooking temperature. Take from heat and add vanilla, chocolate chips, marshmallow cream. Beat well. Pour into lightly greased 9 by 13 inch dish. Let sit for 2 hours before cutting. To speed the process, put in refrigerator for an hour before cutting.
