Danish Apple Bars

2 1/2 cup flour
1 tsp. salt
1 cup crisco
1 egg yolk
1 cup cornflakes
About 2 Ibs. apples(8 cups) pared and thinly sliced
3/4 to 1 cup sugar
1 egg white


In a bowl add flour and salt. Cut in crisco. Beat egg yolk in measuring cup with a fork. Add enough milk tomake 2/3 cup liquid, and mix well. Stir egg mixture into flour mixture. Roll half dough on floured surface to17 x 12 inch rectangle. Line a 10 x 15 (jelly roll) pan WlTH HALF THE PASTRY. Sprinkle with cornflakestop with apples. Sprinkle with sugar/cinnamon combination. Roll out the other half of the dough and placeover the apples. Seal the edges of the dough. Cut slits on the top. Beat egg whites until frothy. Brush oncrust. Bake. While still warm, drizzle with powdered sugar glaze. Cut into bars.

Temperature: 375°

Baking Time: 50 minutes.
