Coffee Cake (version 2)

1/2 cup shortening
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs
2 cup sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 pt. sour cream

Brown sugar mixture (Mix well):
6 Tbsp soft margarine
1 cup brown sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup chopped nuts


Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla. Add eggs beating well. Add flour, baking powder and soda alternately with sour cream. Spread 1/2 batter in a greased 10" tube pan, or Bundt pan. Cover with one half of brown sugar mixture. Add remaining batter, then sugar mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 min. This freezes well. Serves 10-12.
