Chili Texas Style


1 lb. pink beans
2 lb. ground beef
2 onions, chopped
2 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. garlic powder
salt and pepper


Soak beans overnight. Drain and cook until soft (1-2 hours) in fresh water. Brown meat. Add chopped onion, chili powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Pour beans (with cooking water!) into meat and add water to your taste. Stir often. When water gets low, add more until beans are done and it looks good and thick. If needed, you can thicken the sauce with 2 tbsp. flour whisked into the chili.
