Beef Cabbage Rolls


3/4 lb lean ground beef
1/8 lb salt pork; ground
1 cup rice; cooked
1 eggs; beaten
1/2 tsp salt; pepper
10 large cabbage leaves
1/4 cup consomme
2 Tbsp melted butter


Soak lid of glazed clay cooker. Swirl melted butter in the bottom of the pot. In a bowl mix well all ingredients except consomme and cabbage leaves. Divide mixture among leaves and wrap up. Put into clay cooker. Pour consomme over cabbage rolls. Cover and place in cold oven. Turn temperature to 425F and bake for 80 minutes.
