Applesauce Doughnuts

Ingredients

oil for frying
2-1/4 cup Sifted flour
1-1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2 Tbsp oil
1/4 cup milk
1 cup unsweetened applesauce

Directions

Fill a large saucepan with oil 2/3 full. Heat to 360. Sift together flour and baking powder. Baking soda, spices and salt onto a wax paper.. Beat together sugars and eggs in a large bowl until fluffy. Beat in 2 Tbsp. oil. Stir in flour mixture alternately,. with the milk. Stir in applesauce and vanilla. Carefully drop batter in the hot oil about 4 Tbsp. DO over cook!! Fry turning once. Cool on paper towels. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
